MSU Campus, Renovated Wells Hall- The English Language Center has moved to its new location in the new B Wing of Wells Hall. On September 7, 2012, the new building was officially opened to the public.
The grand opening ceremony of Wells Hall started with musicians playing jazz, and it was hosted right behind the new B wing of Wells Hall. People started to be quiet and kept their eyes on the stage as people slowly gathered.
Standing in front of a crowd of about 300 guests, Senior students, the Dean of the College of Arts & Letters, the Provost, MSU Board of Trustees, and the MSU President began the Opening Ceremony. There was also a sign-language interpreter to deliver the speeches/information to a speech-impaired person. Dean Wurst had a strong voice when she started her speech and said a few facts about Wells Hall. Not only did the Dean have a strong voice but the President had one as well. With a dignified form, President Lou Anna K. Simon told the audience how the new Wells Hall will be used. Because of those powerful images from the Dean, the MSU Provost and President, people were completely focused on the ceremony.
Moreover, there was an interesting speech from a senior student, Madison Boden, who is majoring in Chinese Language and Criminal Justice at Wells Hall. According to her, she mentioned that she always goes to Wells Hall 2 hours early before she had her Mandarin Class. She did this so she could have a conversation with Chinese friends and that only improved her Chinese speaking. As she said, Wells Hall was not only a place where students can learn various languages but also can make new international friends. (click here to read more)
