In addition to incredible professors and faculty, the English Language Center also has some outstanding student workers. We’d like to introduce some of the friendly faces of our ELC office and allow you to learn more about them and their time at MSU.
Mary Stout is a rising senior studying Elementary Education with a Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). After graduation, she plans to spend a few years teaching English as a foreign language outside the U.S. and later return to work as an elementary school teacher. She says her 2 years working at ELC influenced her studies, “I didn’t even plan on studying TESOL before starting to work here but have since been inspired to pursue it as my job.”
Mary is active outside of her studies as well, working for the ASMSU, MSU undergraduate student government, alongside her work for ELC. As for hobbies, Mary says, “I like rollerblading and reading novels. I also enjoy traveling and studied abroad in Japan last summer.”
