Funds & Fellowships Accepting Donations:

The English language Center’s Discretionary Fund

Gifts to the ELC’s discretionary fund directly support international students, by helping to fund vital services and projects related to English language instruction, and ELC faculty, by supplementing professional development funds.

Shigeo & Isako Imamura Graduate Fellowship

This endowment provides one to two graduate assistants with a teaching fellowship each year. The selection process occurs every spring semester and awards are granted each fall semester.

Dr. Wu-Yi So Memorial Scholarship Fund

Dr. Wu-Yi So was a beloved teacher of English language to international students at the MSU English Language Center in the 1970s. This annual award in her memory will be given to a select number of students who are in good standing in a full-time program at the English Language Center, who have been admitted to an MSU degree program, and who exhibit a strong potential to succeed at MSU. Students from China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong will be given preference in the selection process. 

 

Academic and Cultural Mentoring Fund

The purpose of this growing endowment is to provide funds so that domestic students can become paid mentors to international English language learners at the ELC. The ELC is actively seeking donations to this fund so that it can reach endowment status.

College of Arts & Letters Student Emergency Fund

The College of Arts & Letters Emergency Fund provides short-term financial assistance to students who are in danger from withdrawing during a semester due to unanticipated, temporary financial hardships resulting from an emergency or crisis situations.
