Program Description

The Online American English and Culture Program (OAECP) is a customizable, 2 to 4 week online program provided by the Michigan State University English Language Center (ELC). Students will take part in 2 courses, taught both synchronously (live) and asynchronously (independently and self-paced).

  • U.S. History and Society
  • Current Events and Oral Skills

The combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction will be equivalent to approximately 15 hours per week. Students will be emailed program certificates upon completion of all required assignments.

Program Placements

After submitting an application for the program, students will be required to sign up to take the online MSU English Language Test (MSUELT). Test results will provide the ELC with information about the students’ English proficiency and may be used to determine eligibility for the program.

Program Costs

The average cost of OAECP is $500 to $1,000 per participant. Program costs are dependent upon the length of the program and the number of participants enrolled. This cost includes program materials, course enrollment, and access to MSU online instructional tools.

OAECP will be able to accommodate up to 20 students per section. A minimum of 10 students will be required in order to run a program.

Applications and payments are due two weeks prior to the start of the program.
