English Language Center Writing Skills Coordinator, Carol Arnold, and Second Language Studies Ph.D. student, Monique Yoder will co-teach a three-credit semester-long course with the Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures (WRAC) department in Fall 2022. The course is WRA 495: Working with Multilingual Writers and is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who give feedback on multilingual writers’ academic English writing in writing support contexts.

Developing the course has been a partnered effort between the English Language Center and The Writing Center @ MSU’s Multilingual Writers Group. The course aims to raise awareness of how people develop written and digital literacy skills in an additional language and how to apply this knowledge when providing feedback on writing with multilingual writers in university contexts. TESOL minors, Teacher Education majors, writing center consultants and tutors, and teaching assistants who work with student writers would greatly benefit from taking the course.

Undergraduate and graduate students can enroll for the course during Fall 2022 registration by going to student.msu.edu.
