Culture Experience in the USA: American Culture for Kids
The Michigan State University English Language Center (ELC) is located in the heart of MSU’s beautiful campus in the safe Midwestern city of East Lansing, Michigan. The ELC was established in 1961 and has been offering English language instruction and customized special programs since that time.
ELC faculty all have Masters degrees in Teaching English as a Second Language or related fields, and they have many years of experience in teaching English to students of all ages. The ELC faculty have designed numerous programs that have helped students understand culture and language better by involving them in American culture in creative and interesting ways.
American Culture for Kids is a customizable two to four week program. Students will get to experience life at a major American university by living in on-campus housing and eating at MSU’s excellent dining halls. They will experience and learn American culture on the university campus, in the local community, and by traveling to other communities and taking part in local events. Experiencing culture this way will help them become familiar and comfortable with American culture and the English language.
Students will receive approximately 15 hours per week of content-based classroom instruction, and they will go on field trips related to that instruction. They will visit interesting places and have many opportunities to interact with people at MSU and in the community.
The ELC would love the opportunity to welcome you to MSU!
