In August of 2022, the ELC faculty welcomed and then mentored 5 visiting scholars from Kazakhstan who are part of a MSU/Bolashak Pedagogical Innovations for University Instructors program sponsored by the MSU College of Education and funded by the Bolashak Foundation in Kazakhstan. During their time with us, the faculty provided the mentees with avenues for learning about teaching in our discipline as it is practiced at MSU, and they also provided insights into the professional life of faculty at the English Language Center. Throughout the mentoring experience, the ELC faculty also provided support on a capstone project that each visiting scholar was engaged in. While each mentoring experience varied according to the interests of the faculty member and the visiting scholar there was a strong professional connection formed by the end of the experience. We wish these wonderful visiting scholars the best as they return home! Safe travels.
