On May 31st, 2024, Dr. Dustin De Felice was given the honor of throwing out one of the first pitches at the Military Appreciation Baseball Game for the Lansing Lugnuts. The Lugnuts hosted the Peoria Chiefs for game 3 of 6 at Jackson Field. As part of this important event, the crowd was treated to a visit from Sector Detroit from the Ninth Coast Guard District – Atlantic Area. The Coast Guard Foundation also sponsored part of the event, which included the ceremonial first pitches by the Sector Crew and a USCG veteran (Dustin). The U.S. Coast Guard Color Guard also provided the flags for the national anthem.
Dustin was so thankful for the opportunity, and he felt it was such an unbelievable honor, and the Lugnuts marketing team, especially Daniel, the Lugnuts Team, and the whole crew were just wonderful! He especially wants to thank the Student Veteran Resource Center, the Veteran Outreach Committee at MSU, and Patrick Forystek, Director of the SVRC.
