What’s Available

Reservations are possible in four spaces: B135 (ELC Main Office), B135A (Small Conference Room inside ELC Main Office), B129 (Multi-purpose Room), and B125 (Language Commons – Approval from LiLaC and RCS required). PLEASE NOTE: We do not have Office Operations support for these reservations, so be patient, kind, and understanding with the ELC faculty. These requests are approved from our director and the faculty in these spaces may be the ones helping with some reservations and room needs.

Reservation Instructions

To make a reservation, open Outlook, go to calendar, create a meeting and invite the meeting room to the meeting. Be sure to include information about how many people will be involved in the meeting and an organizer contact (if it’s not you). When you submit the meeting request, the event goes into work flow for approval to the ELC. Once you submit your reservation, it routes for approval. After approval, you’ll be able to find your reservation (and share it) from your own Outlook Calendar.

1. ELC Main Office, B135 (CAL.Wells.B135.ELC@msu.edu)

This space can hold up to 35 people. There are multiple configurations available with many furniture choices. Keep in mind that this space is open to the public and is next to our director’s office. He has lots of visitors and is noisy, so consider a different space if you need a private or confidential meeting or event. Some technology is available including a TV cart with HDMI hook ups.

2. Conference Room, B135A (CAL.Wells.B135A.Conference.Room)

This space can hold up to 6 people. The space has moveable furniture and white board. There is also a TV cart with HDMI hook ups. This space is inside of the main office, and it is not soundproof.

3. MSU Language Commons, B125 (CAL.Wells.B125.Lang.Commons@msu.edu)

ELC, LiLaC, and RCS are partnering in the development of the MSU Language Commons in Wells B125. Due to its proximity to the three language units, we envision this space as the nucleus around which a student-centered language learning community will be established. It will offer our diverse group of language learners a location to meet informally, share ideas, and collaborate on their work. The MSU Language Commons will provide a non-traditional teaching space for student-focused activities, including career preparation events and language workshops. It will house several initiatives focused on student success such as the German Help Room, French Learning Center (soon to be expanded to Spanish and Classics), and professional development opportunities. The MSU Language Commons will also offer space for our language clubs and other related groups to meet in a pleasant environment, one that is more conducive to informal conversations and activities than a classroom. Finally, the space will become the hub of the current learning community dedicated to adapting various types of games to language learning. In short, the MSU Language Commons will provide accessibility diverse opportunities for language learning support in an inclusive setting. PLEASE NOTE: Reservation procedures for this space will be updated soon.

4. Language Office, B127

This small space between the MSU Language Commons and the Multipurpose room is currently not reservable, but can be used as a semi-private space for up to 3 people. This space is the only entrance for B129, and it connects to B125, so using this space will have interruptions and/or general noise from the connecting rooms.

5. Multipurpose Room, B129 (CAL.Wells.B129.Multipurpose.Space@msu.edu)

This multipurpose room has moveable furniture, a dividing wall, and a computer cart with projector for only one side of the space. With the partition open, the space can hold up to 60. With the partition in place, one side of the wall can hold up to 30 and the other side 25.
